The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 22 July 1946 headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO is a member of the United Nations Development Group. Its predecessor, the Health Organization, was an agency of the League of Nations.

Since its creation, it has played a leading role in the eradication of smallpox. Its current priorities include communicable diseases; the mitigation of the effects of non-communicable diseases; sexual and reproductive health, development, and ageing; nutrition, food security and healthy eating; occupational health; substance abuse; and driving the development of reporting, publications, and networking.

The WHO is responsible for the World Health Report, the worldwide World Health Survey, and World Health Day.

What the Client needed
Business Need

The World Health Organization had the need of development of front office and back office platforms that were responsible for project reporting. Both platforms had to be de designed from scratch and both had to integrate effective user interface and user experience.

The front office platform consists of a questionnaire that helps officers better evaluate their work. After completion of the form, the platform generates a file in pdf or csv format that can be later printed and brought to meetings with other officers.

The back office platform had to automate the data filling process that was previously done manually on excel files. WHO also needed the system to export samples based on predefined criteria. In the near future, both systems are planned to be integrated with other small applications with different functionalities in large integrated portal.

What WE Accomplished
Software solution

No Limit was chosen to complete the projects by a referral from a partnering company. Working with a global organization such as WHO usually cause changes in scope and miscommunication. However, that was not the case - in the course of work with No Limit no such issues were present. Deadlines were sharp and the timeframe for the project was not interrupted.

The front office platform was translated into three languages – English, French and Spanish. The users have the opportunity to choose their preferred language and both systems would translate the content in the chosen language. Another feature of the platform was auto save. If the users decide to stop filling the questionnaire and close the browser, it will save their answers and they can continue from where they have left the next time they open the page.

Due to the fact that the system will be used by people ranging in ethnicity from different parts of the world design plays important role, because it had to be clean and culturally appropriate.

Both frontend and backend platforms were optimized from a UI/UX perspective, which allows fast information screening. Our designers used progressive disclosure, which divides the information into several tiers and allows the user to easily read it, without too much clutter on the screen. Users can also easily extract the needed information into the preferred file format pdf or csv and print it later on.
